Carlito - First Meeting

This Psychopath roams the catwalks above the Food Court, firing shots from his machine gun and dropping grenades. As you chip away at his health, Carlito will move counter-clockwise around the area to new firing positions.

You should be armed with at least two Handguns before starting the battle. You can get one from Jessie and another from a Cop zombie near the park entrance of Paradise Plaza.

Your strategy will be to stand in key locations depending on which phase of the battle you're in, then wait for Carlito to stop moving and fire (head shots, if possible) before he fires on your position. Watch the video strategy to see where to position your character and when to move.

Adam The Clown

Equipped with twin small chainsaws and a handful of attacks, Adam The Clown can be a dangerous early opponent. He'll come out to play after you attempt to stop the ride in Wonderland Plaza.

You should be armed with at least two Handguns before starting the battle. There are always 4 or 5 Cop zombies clustered together at the top of a staircase on the 2nd floor, and they all carry Handguns.

Moving back at the start of the battle will lure Adam onto an empty stretch of open pathway. You have a significant advantage here, so long as you can keep a bit of distance between you and him. To do this, slowly back away and attack as Adam advances. Should you get backed up far enough on this pathway that you run into zombies, run past Adam in the other direction, then start working your way backwards to the other end.

As for your attack strategy, it will depend on what Adam is doing. If he's got his chainsaws out and/or he's rolling on the floor, just wait (or move back) and he'll eventually go into another pattern. If he's blowing up a baloon, shoot him as quickly as possible, then fire on the baloon immediately. You can also fire on him when he blows fire, unless you're close to him, in which case you need to back away quickly. Same goes for his spinning chainsaw attack; get some distance and if you happen to get an opening, fire a few shots in.

Cletus

Tucked away in the northeast corner of North Plaza, you'll find the Huntin' Shack, and inside its doors you'll find Cletus, a moonshine drinkin', shotgun blastin' Psychopath.

You should be armed with at least three Handguns before starting the battle. There are always 4 or 5 Cop zombies clustered together at the top of a staircase on the 2nd floor of Wonderland Plaza, and they all carry Handguns. You can also patrol the nearby hallways once the battle is underway to find 2 or 3 more Hangun carrying Cop zombies.

The strategy here is pretty simple. Exit the store and clear the zombies from the outside hallway as quickly as possible, avoiding using any Handgun ammo in the process. Open the left entrance door from the outside. You can now stand barely inside the doorway and fire on Cletus whenever he roams the right side of the counter.

The best time to shoot is when Cletus lifts his jug and takes a swig of moonshine, but you can hit him with gunfire at any time, so long as you have good aim.

Three Convicts

The first time you enter Leisure Park at night (after 7:00 PM) you'll be introduced to the Three Convicts. Cruising the park in a Hummer, one drives, the other hangs out in the passenger seat while the third mans a powerful, rear-mounted machine gun.

I recommend being armed with the Submachine Gun before starting the battle. You can get one from the fountain in Al Fresca Plaza.

The rear-mounted machine gun is the most dangerous component of your enemy's arsenal. Try to avoid the machine gun fire until you see the Hummer stuck against a wall, pole or tree. Take aim on the gunner and open fire. Keep your finger on the trigger until you see he's been taken out (a "Psychopath Defeated" message will appear on screen). You can now grab the machine gun from the back of the Hummer and easily take out the other two. You can now stalk the courtyard with your new weapon, or jump behind the wheel and wreak some 4-wheel havoc.

Carlito - Second Meeting

Carlito's back, and this time he's got a Sniper Rifle. He's also got Dr. Barnaby hung by a rope, so you'd better act quick.

I recommend being armed with a Sniper Rifle of your own before starting the battle. You can get one from the Huntin' Shack in North Plaza once you've defeated Cletus.

All you need to do is run up to the second floor, then find a spot away from Brad where you can set up shop and chip away at his health from afar. Watch the video to see this strategy in action.

Cliff

Stroll into Crislip's in North Plaza once the "Machete Man" scoop has been activated, and you'll be treated to a warm welcome from Cliff... Vietnam War flashback style!

I recommend being armed with a Shotgun before starting the battle. You can get one from the Huntin' Shack in North Plaza once you've defeated Cletus.

Cliff will run around the store, using trap doors and tunnels to sneak from place to place. You should know that you cannot use the trap doors as he does, so don't even try it. Instead, climb onto the racks (watch the video to see a good spot) and equip your Shotgun.

If you're in the spot shown in the video, you should be able to avoid Cliffs grenades easily, so all you'll have to do is wait for him to run in plain sight, then blast him with the Shotgun. He may hang for a minute if he gets in a spot where a support column is between the two of you. Try to hit him with a shot from the Sniper Rifle, if you've got it, or just move into his line of sight to get him moving again.

Steven

Managing the Supermarket in North Plaza has taken its toll on Steven, and he's no longer interested in serving his customers. What a shame.

I recommend being armed with a Sniper Rifle of your own before starting the battle. You can get one from the Huntin' Shack in North Plaza once you've defeated Cletus.

This is an extremely simple battle if you have a Sniper Rifle and you watch my video. Hop onto a shelf at the beginning of the battle and move to the back of the store. Try to lure Steven to the corner by letting him see you, and then running to where you want him. Once he's near the corner, jump onto the shelves again and jump from shelf to shelf until you reach the other side of the market.

If you've managed to stay out of sight, Steven will still be at the other end of the market. You can now move out in the open and take aim with the Sniper Rifle. Get off a head shot as quickly as possible, then wait a moment. If he starts moving again, fire another head shot. If he ducks behind the cart, wait for him to move his head to the side of the cart, then back up. As soon as he comes up to push the cart again, fire another head shot and repeat the process.

If you're slow of have bad aim, Steven may make it all the way to your position. Just start hopping across the shelf tops to get to the other end of the market to begin the attack pattern again. And always remember that the supermarket is filled with healing items, should you ever need one.

The Raincoat Cult

An odd religious cult has set up shop just outside the movie theater in Paradise Plaza.

I recommend being armed with two Sniper Rifles before starting the battle. You can get them from the Huntin' Shack in North Plaza once you've defeated Cletus.

Another simple battle, if you're equipped properly. Using the Sniper Rifle and taking head shots from a distance means it's nearly impossible for any cultists to attack you. Just be sure you kill any that become wounded and start running towards you before shooting at others.

You can also move in and take out multiple cultists at a clip with the Shotgun. Watch out for any getting too close, as they can spray a debilitating mist at you, or explode when you shoot them.

Isabela

She could just say she's not interested and leave, but instead Isabela feels a need to try and run you down with her motorcycle. Women...

I recommend being armed with a Shotgun before starting the battle. You can get one from the Huntin' Shack in North Plaza once you've defeated Cletus.

Jump away from the bike as the battle starts, then climb on top of the nearby rubbish pile. From here you can fire on Isabela to your heart's content. It should take about 10 shots to bring her down.

She may stop and fire a shot of her own now and then. As long as you have a couple bars of health, I wouldn't worry about it.

Sniper Family

A father and his two sons are perched on the second floor of Entrance Plaza. As they say, "The family that murders together, dies together."

I recommend being armed with two Sniper Rifles starting the battle. You can get them from the Huntin' Shack in North Plaza once you've defeated Cletus.

This can be a tough battle, but the employing the strategy shown in the video will make it significantly easier. As the battle starts, turn around and run up the stairs/escalator. Turn right and position yourself just to the left of the second column, as shown in the video. From here you can take aim on the family and start picking them off.

Your main priority is keeping the family from advancing. To do this, you need to shoot whoever is in the lead position. They will rotate this position when shot or left alone too long, so be quick with the trigger.

Head shots are great for big damage, but make sure you at least land some kind of hit so they can't advance on your position. Body shots also work fine for a cheap shot as they're running away.

If they get too close, switch to a Shotgun or bladed weapon, then run right up to them and attack at close range. This also works well if you're down to only one family member, as they'll keep running away and won't have a chance to shoot at you.

Jo

This is one lady who's taken her hatred of men a little too far. You'll find Jo abusing her Security Guard authority in the Lovely Fashion House on the second floor of Wonderland Plaza.

I recommend being armed with two Shotguns before starting the battle. You can get them from the Huntin' Shack in North Plaza once you've defeated Cletus.

As the battle starts, turn around and run towards the exit. Be sure Jo follows you, then when she does, exit the store and move to the left of the front windows. Find the spot shown in the video and start hitting her with blasts from the Shotgun.

She will probably fire back and hit you with a shot or two, but as long as you have a few bars of health, you shouldn't have to worry about it.

Paul

He's a stuttering nerd who's taken as much as he can handle. You can find him threatening women with Molotov Cocktails in the Casual Gals of Wonderland Plaza.

I recommend being armed with a Shotgun and a Small Chainsaw before starting the battle. You can get the Shotgun from the Huntin' Shack in North Plaza once you've defeated Cletus, and a Small Chainsaw from the roller coaster control area in Wonderland Plaza where you found Adam The Clown.

Battles don't get much easier than this. Immediately shoot Paul with the Shotgun to stun him, then run up to him as you switch to the Small Chainsaw and hack away until his health drops to zero.

After the cut-scene, you can kill him or grab the nearby Fire Extinguisher and rescue him. If you can rescue and escort him back to the Security Room, you'll get a call in a little while telling you Paul has something for you. When you go back and talk with him, you'll get a Molotov Cocktail of your own.

Sean

You can find Sean preaching his brand of crazy at his makeshift church in theater 4 of Colby's Movieland, in Paradise Plaza.

I recommend being armed with a Shotgun before starting the battle. You can get one from the Huntin' Shack in North Plaza once you've defeated Cletus.

Sean seems to be impossible to defeat at first glance. He's quick, evasive and has several attacks that do big damage. Lucky for you, I've found a trick for beating him easily.

As soon as the battle starts, turn around and run for the doors. Open both doors from the inside, then run out to the hallway. While you're out here, Sean will hide on either side of the doorway. Use the camera to peek around the corner so you know where he's hiding.

Now you can step into the doorway to draw Sean out, and get in first-person view mode with the Shotgun. As soon as Sean appears, blast him with the Shotgun. Get as many shots in as you're comfortable with, then move back into the hallway to avoid a slash from Sean's sword. Repeat this process until his health drops to zero.

Make sure you don't have any hostages in your line of fire. The Shotgun will damage hostages behind Sean and even kill them, so be careful of how and where you aim.

Kent

Kent is your rival photojournalist, dancing through the mall in search of high scoring shots. If you can pass his first two tests, he'll invite you to an ultimate challenge at Roastmaster's, on the 2nd floor of Paradise Plaza.

I recommend being armed with a Katana before starting the battle. You can get one from the 2nd floor of Paradise Plaze, near where this battle begins. Move over to the Orange Juice refrigerator, then carefully jump through the opening just to the right. You should land on a ledge with a Katana on it.

Kent is very quick and can avoid most ranged attacks. Because of this, I like to focus on close attacks with the Katana. Try to get some distance between you and Kent, then let him run towards you. As long as he's not doing a bull rush attack (where he puts his head down and runs with his camera as a weapon) you should be able to get a single slash in on him.

At this point Kent will usually land a quick attack of his own, should you try to land another slash. Instead, run and get some space to start the attack pattern over again.

Larry The Butcher

Larry has gotten a hold of Carlito and plans to make hamburger meat out of him. You'll find the two of them in the Meat Processing Area located in the northwest corner of the Maintenence Tunnels.

I recommend being armed with two Shotguns before starting the battle. You can get them from the Huntin' Shack in North Plaza once you've defeated Cletus.

Larry can be a tough opponent if you don't know how he operates. His attacks are fairly simple, he will throw Cleavers at you from a distance, hurl animal carcasses at you which bounce off walls, or put his head down and bull rush right at you. Also, if he can grab you, he'll put you on a meat hook and slash at you. If this happens, quickly move the L stick back and forth until you free yourself.

As for attacking Larry, try to keep a bit of distance and a few meat carcasses between the two of you. The meat will help to block flying Cleavers, but if you're positioned just right as shown in the video, you can still take shots at his head with the Shotgun. When he rushes towards you, move away and avoid any carcass throws, then reposition yourself for another round of attacks.

Also, be sure to execute your strategy quickly. Carlito is on a meat hook headed for a grinding machine, so time is of the essence.

XM3 Prototype Tank

You'll encounter this deadly tank after making your way through the cave in Overtime Mode.

You're armed with the machine gun turret of the vehicle you're in, so there's no weapon recommendation for this battle.

Let's start with XM3's attacks. The first one you'll see is a simple mortar blast from its cannon. There's no way you can actively avoid this, so don't even worry about it. The second attack is a flurry of flying security droids. These tend to cluster near each other as they get close to you, so wait for them to get near before you focus your attacks on them. The third and final attack will be a series of four guided missiles. These are very dangerous, but you can shoot them out of the air before they reach you. The moment you see the white balls of light representing these missiles, switch your focus on them and try to shoot all four down before they do big damage.

So when you're not defending against XM3's attacks, you can do some damage of your own. Look just above the treads to find a cluster of three green lights on either side of the tank. You want to aim directly at, or just above these lights, depending on the angle of your turret. When you see small flames bursting from the tank, you're shooting in the right place.

Brock

Finally you get to face off against the man who bungled the Santa Cabeza cleanup and allowed the Willamette outbreak to occur.

This is a straight up, bareknuckle brawl, so you're armed with only your fists (and feet). No weapon recommendation necessary.

Brock is far and away the toughest opponent you've faced, which is fitting for a final boss battle. He's quick, evasive, blocks almost all attacks and you have no way of straight up blocking his attacks. He can also slide in behind you and employ a headlock which does big damage (move the L stick back and forth to get out of it). Sounds like fun, right?

It gets worse. This fight takes place on top of a tank which is surrounded by zombies. If he can land a few well placed attacks, Brock will send you off the tank into the pool of walking dead. If this happens, jump and Zombie Ride back to the tank, or just jump right back up if you're near.

As for your plan of attack, it's actually pretty simple. I've read that the Double Lariat (press X while holding the L stick in) can work well, but I had little success with it. Instead, I like to move to the wider of the two lower levels of the tank. From here, punches to Brock's shins (when he's still on the top level) land with a good amount of frequency. I also like to Jump Kick or Somersault Kick, and then do a Roundhouse Kick as I land. One of these will usually land during the flurry, even though you'll usually get slapped around afterwards. Watch the video to see these techniques in action.
